Chocó Endemics (Budget) Tour

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Bogotá

Day 2: At dawn we shall visit a local marsh in search of Apolinar’s Marsh-wren and Bogotá Rail before visiting a private reserve overlooking the city to look for Rufous-browed Conebill, Blue-throated Starfrontlet, Matorral Tapaculo and Silvery-throated Spinetail.

Day 3: We shall take an early morning flight to Pasto and travel to La Planada for a two night stay.

Day 4 Birding around La Planada we shall look for Toucan Barbet, Plate-billed Mountain-toucan, Hoary Puffleg, Spotted Nightingale Thrush, Yellow-breated Antpitta and Black-chinned Mountain-tanager.

Day 5 - 7 After a final morning at La Planada we shall travel to the Rio Ñambi Reserve for a three night stay. Here we shall look for the rare Plumbeous Forest-falcon, Choco Vireo, Choco Tapaculo, Empress Brilliant, Glistening-green Tanager, Velvet-purple Coronet, Dusky Bush-tanager, Rufous-breasted Antthrush, Plain-backed Antpitta, Cloud-forest Pygmy-owl

Day 8 - 10 This morning we shall travel further down the Pacific slope to the ProAves reserve of El Pangan for a three night stay. Here we shall look for Long-wattled Umbrellabird, from which the reserve takes its name, Esmeraldas Antbird, Blue-whiskered Tanager, Rose-faced Parrot, Five-coloured Barbet, Tooth-billed Hummingbird and Rufous-throated Tanager.

Day 11: Ths morning we shall travel back to Pasto for our flight to Bogota to connect with international flights.
